Welcome! I'm Samantha Kodzis!
Growing up in the DC-Baltimore metro area, I was exposed to architecture and interior design at an early age. I never fully appreciated the monuments and historic structures until later in my life. I attended a vocational high school for an engineering careers program and found that it lacked creativity. I started participating in the Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program in 2017, where I discovered my true passion for commercial interior design. I immediately knew I wanted to pursue interior design, as it stimulates both the left and right sides of the brain. Interior design offers the perfect balance of creativity and technicality that I was seeking. In 2020, I pursued my education at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design with a minor in business management and entrepreneurship. During my time at SCAD, I developed a passion for sustainability, universal design, and branding.
As a designer, I am passionate about creating functional spaces that leave a positive impact on the community. I strive to create an inclusive and sustainable environment because the built environment significantly impacts an occupant’s health and well-being. I believe embracing the unknown is a vital part of the design process. No single person possesses all the knowledge about a particular topic. When a problem arises, I embrace it and then begin seeking an innovative solution through research and collaboration with my peers. During collaboration, I enjoy learning about different perspectives and their impact on the final design. Embracing the unknown has taught me adaptability, collaboration, and innovation. This willingness to embrace the unknown can lead to amazing, innovative, and ambitious projects.
